Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia Esam Abid Althagafi has seen off a 94-year-old pilgrim Uhi and his family members to the Soekarno-Hatta airport in Cengkareng, Banten Province, to perform hajj.

Uhi and his family left for the Holy Land at the invitation of King Salman on a flight departing at 8.00 p.m. local time Tuesday, according to a statement from the Saudi Arabian Embassy received by ANTARA via a short message service here, Tuesday.

Ambassador Esam prayed for Uhi to always be healthy and be strong to perform all the hajj rituals, as well as get a blessing for his hajj and return home safely with his family.

King Salman's invitation to Uhi was initiated with a video that showed the man and some of his family members requesting King Salman and the crown prince Muhammad bin Salman to invite them to perform hajj.

The video went viral among the people of Saudi Arabia until it reached King Salman and the crown prince who finally invited Uhi and his family for the Hajj.

The hajj invitation from King Salman and the Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman was directly delivered by Ambassador Esam who invited Uhi to the Saudi Arabian embassy recently.

"King Salman and the Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman issued orders to immediately process the departure to the Holy Land to perform hajj," the ambassador said.
