East Lampung (Antaranews Lampung) - Fishermen in Muara Gading Mas Village, Labuhan Maringgai Subdistrict, East Lampung Regency, catch a stingray fish with a weight of more than two quintals or over 200 kilograms.
"The stingray caught the net accidentally on Tuesday when a number of traditional fishermen who used fishing gear for the Payang net went to sea," said Bayu Witara, a resident who lives in Muara Gading Mas Village, reporting by telephone on Wednesday.
Bayu Witara who is the Chairman of All Indonesian Fishermen Association of East Lampung Regency mentioned that stingrays are manta rays.
Bayu explained that the manta rays after being sidelined were sold directly by the fishermen who caught them.
"The stingrays are cut into pieces and sold," he said.
According to him, every kilogram of manta rays is valued at Rp.4 thousand.
