Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - The provincial government of West Java strengthened supervision of tourist attractions during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, one of which by implementing random health screening for visitors.
"This is an effort to anticipate the spread of COVID-19 and prevent a surge in visitors during the Christmas holiday on the weekend. The supervision will continue until the New Year's holiday," Head of the Tourism, Telecommunications, and Transportation Division of the Regional Economic Recovery Committee of West Java Province Dedi Taufik said.
Many parties are involved in the supervision, he told ANTARA in a telephone interview on Sunday.
The West Java Tourism and Culture Office team members were sent to areas that tourists commonly crowd during holiday seasons.
Those areas include Greater Bandung, Lembang-Ciater, Cipanas-Kamojang-Santolo, Pangandaran, Palabuan Ratu, Bogor-Puncak-Cianjur, Cirebon-Kuningan, and Ciwidey-Pangalengan.
Taufik himself supervised the health protocols implementation in wildlife park Taman Safari Indonesia, Bogor District, West Java.
"We are monitoring people's visits to tourist attractions in order to suppress COVID-19 transmission during Christmas and New Year's holidays," he explained.
Aside from implementing health protocols, the tourist attraction operators are also urged to utilize the PeduliLindungi application as an early health screening effort for visitors.
Taufik affirmed that his party is carrying out COVID-19 antigen tests at several tourist attractions. The test is divided into two: the first is random testing, and the second is intended for visitors who do not have the PeduliLindung application and fail to show their vaccination results.
The tourist attractions that were chosen to conduct the test are Taman Safari and Pangandaran Beach. He informed that no one had been detected positive so far.
"In terms of health protocols, it (the implementation) is already good. We are also implementing the PeduliLindungi application and COVID-19 testing. So far, no one has been tested positive (for COVID-19)," he remarked.
