Three Indonesia warships guard Aceh waters

Sabang, Aceh, (Antaranews Lampung)- Three Indonesia warships have guarded  the waters of Indonesia's western most province of Aceh which is located on northern Sumatra Island.

The presence of the three warships were to protect the sovereignty of Indonesia, Col Edi Haryanto, commander of the Sabang Naval Base said here, Sunday.

 "Their presence is to provide security in Aceh waters and protect the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,  that shares border with India, Thailand and Malaysia," he said.

The three warships are KRI STS-376, KRI THD-538, and KRI WIR-379 and they are now moored in the Sabang Naval Base's dock on We Island.

 KRI STS-376 is expected to carry out a routine patrol in the maritime border and will join a coordinated patrol with India's Navy (Patkor-Indindo).

"KRI STS-376 will conduct Patkor Indindo next week, on Thursday (May 31) in Blair Port, India," he said.

KRI THD-538 is expected to drop marine personnel on Indonesia's outer most island of Rondo, while KRI WIR-379 is patrolling Aceh waters sharing border lines with Thailand and Malaysia.
 Indonesia is the world's most largest archipelago having more than 17 thousand big and small islands.
