Bandarlampung, Lampung, March 31 (Antara Lampung) - PT Great Giant Pineapple Company (GGPC) produces 530 thousand tons of fresh fruit and supplies about 20 percent of the world's canned pineapple needs, an executive of the company stated.
"Our company supplies 20 percent of the world need so that our company is ranked third in the world," Mahfud Santoso, PT Great Giant Pineapple Company Manager, noted here on Sunday.
Mahfud added that besides canned pineapples, his company also produced canned papaya, rose apples, bananas and dragon fruits.
The company's canned pineapples are exported not only to Europe but also to countries in America and Asia.
He explained that out of the company's exports, some 40 percent were shipped to Europe, 40 percent to America and 20 percent to Asia.
Destination countries in Europe include Germany, France, Spain, Britain, Italy, Belgium, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Sweden and other western European nations.
Export destinations in American countries include the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Puerto Rico.
The company also exports its products to Australia, Asian countries and the Middle and Far East, namely Japan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Lebanon and Libya.
