Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-Owned Enterprises Minister (SOEs) Erick Thohir has suggested three measures for reducing the density of Eid exodus traffic on toll roads.
First, sustaining the synchronization of information, he said. Second, ensuring consistency in carrying out established schemes such as odd-even, one-way, and speeding up access for entering and exiting rest areas.
"Third, (using) alternative paths that are part of the scheme, from plan A to plan D. We continue to encourage that," Thohir said here on Saturday.
There has been an extraordinary increase in exodus traffic this year, he highlighted. This cannot be separated from the longing of many people who have not been home for two years, he said.
While monitoring traffic flow, Thohir said traffic density is beginning to increase when vehicles enter the outer areas of Jakarta. According to him, the south line has not been maximized because of the lack of public facilities such as toilets and places to eat.
"I was monitoring by air. I felt the turmoil and complexity that was not easy, considering the extraordinary expectations because of two years of not going home," he said.
"Excuse me that I am present here, not because I did not believe or want to check but we want to give moral support, that is the main thing. Because I know that whatever we do is not perfect, but most importantly, we try to synchronize and update (information) regularly without blaming anyone," Thohir added.
The SOEs Minister also asked state-run telecommunications company Telkom and state mobile operator Telkomsel to help disseminate the information that aircraft and train capacity is still available for homecoming.
He said that trains and aircraft can help reduce the density of travelers using land routes.
"Since the beginning, we have encouraged the alternatives, not only tolls but also trains and planes," Thohir added.
