Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) said he hopes that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will soon meet with the Gerindra Party head, Prabowo Subianto, noting that both figures have large number of supporters.
"It would be very good and noble if Mr. Prabowo can meet with Mr. Jokowi directly, as the two national figures have a large number of supporters and constituents," SBY said on a videotape on Monday.
He believes the two national figures have honest aspirations for the country. SBY said that in such a meeting, there should not be any agreement prior to their meeting.
"If Pak (Mr.) Prabowo is still suing at the Constitutional Court, I believe Pak (Mr.) Jokowi will also respect the constitutional measures taken by Pak Prabowo," he said.
Prabowo Subianto officially challenged on Friday (24/5) the final vote tally by the General Elections Commission (KPU) — which has placed President Joko Widodo as the winner of the 2019 presidential election — at the Constitutional Court.
