Trans-Sumatra Highway Snarled with Traffic

Bandarlampung (Antara Lampung) - The Trans-Sumatra Highway in the direction of Lampung on Sunday morning was snarled with traffic as people returned after Idul Fitri or Lebaran festivities in their hometowns.
         
Lebaran holidaymakers returning after the festivities since Saturday up to Sunday morning has been causing traffic snarls along the highway to Bakauheni ferry port, and from the port to Bandarlampung and other areas in Sumatra.
         
Based on the observation at a number of points along the highway on Sunday, the reverse flow of travelers to Bakauheni port was dominated by private cars and motorcycles.
         
In the next couple of days, lengthy delays are expected on the Trans-Sumatra Highwa as thousands of people will head back after the 2015 Lebaran festive season.
         
The holidaymakers returning from their hometowns both to Java and Sumatra islands opted to leave earlier to evade crowd Bakauheni port in Lampung and Merak port in Banten.
         
The reverse flow of travelers from Java to Sumatra has been seen at Merak port on Sunday morning but the number was not as large as the number of vehicles passing from Sumatra to Java.
         
Number of returning holiday travelers is predicted to reach its highest point next Saturday and Sunday because they will start to work on Monday.
