PDIP respects Sutiyoso's appointment as State Intelligence Agency head

Jakarta (Antara Lampung) - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) respects Sutiyoso's appointment as State Intelligence Agency (BIN) head, despite rumors of his involvement in an attack on PDIP's office on July 27, 1996, stated a party official.
"As the ruling party, PDIP supports Sutiyoso's appointment as the head of BIN by President Joko Widodo, as we respect the president's decision," PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto noted on Thursday night.
Regarding Sutiyoso's alleged involvement in an attack on the PDIP office in 1996, Hasto expressed confidence that the man, who is popularly known as Bang Yos, will be able to tender an explanation.
He noted that the party will use Sutiyoso's fit and proper test as a forum to seek clarifications regarding the incident that occurred on July 27, 1996.
"We will use the momentum of the discussion in improving the professionalism of the state apparatus. I think Sutiyoso will provide explanations and clarifications, as PDIP is the party that is related to the incident that took place on July 27, 1996, and thus, we will seek an explanation," he emphasized.
Hasto noted that PDIP will never stop fighting for justice with regard to the dark event that occurred in the New Order era.
