President Jokowi to Celebrate Idulfitri in Aceh

Banda Aceh, Aceh,  July 16 (ANTARA Lampung) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo and entourage arrived here on Wednesday night on a three-day working visit and celebrate Idul Fitri with local people.

Aceh Governor Zaini Abdullah, his wife and regional leaders were on hand to welcome the president at the air force base Sultan Iskandar Muda at 22.10 local time.

"The president will takbiran (night of last fasting month) at the Great Mosque of Baiturrahman Banda Aceh  and performed Idul Fitri shalat (ritual prayers) before proceeding to West Aceh," spokesman of the regional administration Ali Alfata  said here.

In his visit to the country's westernmost region, Jokowi is accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economy Sofyan Djalil and Agrarian/Head of the National Land Office Ferry Mursyidan Baldan.

Ali Alfata said the president will be in Aceh on a working visit until Friday.

During his stay in Aceh, known as an Islamic stronghold, the president  and his entourage will visit Maulaboh in West Aceh  and Banda Aceh in the provincial city.

In December, 2014, Jokowi visited Papua, a Christian predominated region, to celebrate Christmas with local people.
