Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA) - Lampung's imports in April this year were worth 310.5 million US dollars, up 30.4 million US dollars (10.87 percent) compared to 280.1 million US dollars in March.
"In April 2012 Lampung's imports increased 56.71 pct to 112.4 million US dollars from 198.1 million US dollars in the same month last year," Head of the Lampung central board of statistics (BPS) Muhammad Razif said in Bandarlampung Saturday.
He said six main commodities and 10 main import commodities had increased and four declined.
The highest were the import of oil and gas reaching 129.3 million US dollars followed by mane commodities (fertilizers) 3.7 million US dollars, oil seeds 5 million US dollars, mechanical machinery 3.1 million US dollars, furniture and house lights, vegetable 1.3 million US dollars, and goods made of iron and steel 70.9 million US dollars.
Declining imports are wastes of the food industry 70.9 million US dollars, wheat 7.6 million US dollars, milled products 5.5 million US dollars, and machinery and electrical equipment 3.5 million US dollars.
"A big contribution to the total imports in April came from fertilizers, mechanical machinery, oil seeds and wastes of the food industry 7.80 percent, 3.01 percent, 1.64 percent and 1.01 percent respectively," he said.
The contribution of the four types of commodities reached 13.47 percent of the total imports in the same month.
Razif said the biggest supplier of imported commodities in April 2012 came from Iran 89.9 million US dollars, United Arab Emirates 78.2 million US dollars, Singapore 56.6 million US dollars, and China 24.5 million US dollars.
"The imports from ASEAN reached 22.05 percent and from the European Union 1.25 percent," he added. (ANTARA).
