Jakarta (ANTARA) - PLN Master Distribution Unit (UID) of Greater Jakarta has projected that peak electricity load during Eid will fall 15 percent compared to the previous year and 21 percent compared to the average daily load this year.
General manager of the state electricity firm, Doddy B. Pangaribuan, said that the highest peak load in 2022 was recorded at 5,351 MW and there are still power reserves of 35 percent.
"The peak load on Eid al-Fitr on May 2, 2022, is predicted to be 3,653 MW, or 15 percent lower compared to the peak load in 2021," he informed here on Saturday.
The decrease in the peak electricity load is expected due to many people going home during Eid, he explained. In the last two years, many people did not carry out homecoming, he noted.
"This is because many people are traveling home as the government has allowed homecoming. While last year or two years ago, (the peak load) only dropped slightly from 5,000 MW to 4,200 MW," he explained.
The peak load during Eid al-Fitr is also predicted to fall 21 percent from the average daily electricity load in 2022, which has been recorded at 4,680 MW, Pangaribuan said.
To ensure convenience in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, PLN has supplied 1,730 kVA of power to Istiqlal Mosque, with six layers of electricity supply secured to ensure reliable electricity provision, he added.
"A total of 2,356 personnel at 18 posts have also been readied ahead of Eid al-Fitr by conducting a shift system for 24 hours," Pangaribuan said.
The prepared backup equipment includes six UPS units or energy reserve devices with a total capacity of 890 kVA, four mobile cable units (UKB) with a total length of 1,600 meters, 37 mobile substation units (UGB) and mobile transformer units (UTB) with a total capacity of 15,600 kVA, and eight units of portable generators with a total capacity of 2,375 kVA, he added.
