Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Great Sale Festival (FJGS) 2019 kicked off on Saturday night, targeting to clinch Rp9.5 trillion in transactions during the month-long festival.
Chief of the Association of Indonesian Shopping Center Operators (APPBI) of the Jakarta Chapter Ellen Hidayat said at AEON Mall Jakarta Garden City on Saturday that he was upbeat about reaching the sale target of Rp9.5 trillion, along with the calm atmosphere in the capital following the May 22 rally to protest the presidential election results.
"The increasingly conducive situation, coupled with good cooperation between security agencies and the government, will make businesspeople confident that the public will carry out activities as they previously did," he said.
Moreover, the public demand for goods prior to Eid-al-Fitr festivities, school holidays and the new academic year is predicted to increase, he said
A total of 82 shopping malls are taking part in the festival this year. Themed "Shopping Spirit" FJGS offers discounts of up to 70 percent and midnight sales at 26 shopping centers across Jakarta.
As in previous years, FJGS will again display a wide range of products from small and medium businesses in the capital.
Eight shopping centers and trade centers will exhibit products from small and medium businesses, including Grand Indonesia, Senayan City, Gandaria City, Kota Kasablanka, Lippo Mall Kemang, Lippo Mall Puri, Mall Kelapa Gading, and AEON Mall Jakarta Garden City.
In addition, 34 market outlets managed by the Jakarta government-owned market operator Perumda Pasar Jaya will also participate.
FJGS 2018, which was held from August 12 to September 4, registered Rp3.95 trillion in profits from retail sales, outstripping the target of Rp3-4 trillion.
