At the 18 Asian Games which will be held from August 18 to September 2, 2018 (Antaranews)

Jakarta  (Antaranews Lampung) - Indonesia will make sure that the security during the implementation of the 2018 Asian Games and Para Games will meet the international standard set by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC).

"I have asked the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) and the Indonesian Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) to inform OCA and APC that the condition in Indonesia is under control and safe as the security officers have managed to control the situation," Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Imam Nahrawi said here on Tuesday.

The organizing committees of the two regional sport events have decided to go ahead with the schedule of the games because the situation has restored to normal following the bombing incidents in Surabaya, East Java, he noted.

He was optimistic that several sponsors would support the games, including by giving bonuses to athletes.

Indonesia informed representatives of several participating countries about the locations of the bombings in Surabaya, which is far away from Jakarta and Palembang (South Sumatra), which will host the 18th Asian Games from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018, and the Third Asian Para Games.

INASGOC Chairman Erick Thohir earlier explained about the security measures during the Asian Games.

"There will be rings one, two, and three, in accordance with the international standard," he pointed out.
