Bandarlampung (Antara Lampung) - The government of Central Lampung District in Lampung Province will soon build a playground and a green open space at the Merdeka Gunungsugih Square.

Rudiyanto, spokesman of the Central Lampung district government, remarked on Friday that the local government had built the Canang monument, Jurai Siwo Elephant monument, Istiqlal mosque, and Plaza Bandarjaya and plans to develop a playground and green open space in 2018.

Rudiyanto noted that the work on developing the playground and green open space will begin in February, and this facility will have a public space, ranging from a food court, recreational park, and sports area to other supporting infrastructure.

"We will start the work in February, and hopefully, it will be completed by December this year. We have, so far, completed the construction of the Canang monument, Jurai Siwo Elephant monument, Istiqlal mosque, and Plaza Bandarjaya," he remarked.

Furthermore, he revealed that the second phase of development of the Islamic Center will also be continued, and a Haj dormitory to accommodate 900 to one thousand people will be built followed by facilities, such as libraries to house Islamic books, and Islamic theme parks.

"This is in accordance with the instructions of the Central Lampung district head to make the Islamic Center a public facility that will be accessible to all," he noted.

In the meantime, Central Lampung District Head Mustafa asserted that the local government's infrastructure prioritizes the construction of public facilities.

Mustafa opined that any development in Central Lampung should be accessible to the community directly.

"Hence, every development project that we undertake should offer a public space," he remarked.

To ensure development is in line with expectations, Mustafa also expressed his commitment to monitoring all ongoing development projects.
