Banjarmasin, July 30 (ANTARA LAMPUNG) - The death toll in a ferry sinking on Tuesday in a Central Kalimantan river rose to 12 until Wednesday with six more passengers still missing.

The traditional boat  with 70 people on board sank in the river of Kuala Kapuas on Tuesday  in the village of  Panamas, sub-district of Salat, in Central Kalimantan.

Two passengers were found dead.

The ill fated boat that sank on its way from the Panamas village to Kota Kuala Kapuas, was said to be overloaded  with 70 passengers and tens of motorcycles.

Spokesman of the Central Kalimantan search and rescue agency (Basarnas) Amrizuna  said on Wednesday  search is still continuing for the missing passengers.

"This morning we sent another vessel and seven divers to help in the search," Amrizuna said.

Sea accidents during the Idul Fitri celebrations had also been reported  in West Sumatra with two killed , one in the sea off Muara Batang Masang, Pariaman and another off Manggopoh, regency of Agam , and in  Central Sulawesi with two killed in the beach resort of Tangjung Karang Donggala,  35 kilometers north of Palu.
