Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked citizens to not hesitate to warn those they find neglecting health protocols in their communities to prevent the transmission of the Coronavirus, or COVID-19.

"Do not hesitate to reprimand those who are undisciplined in keeping their distance, not washing hands, and neglecting to take care of their health," Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said in a video press conference on Friday from the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

The President stressed that all members of the public must remind one another to be disciplined in following health protocols as part of efforts to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Those who test positive for COVID-19 or suspect they have been infected with the virus must immediately isolate themselves, he advised.

He stressed that the entire government machinery is taking measures on a daily basis to deal with the spread of the coronavirus, which has affected more than 180 countries across the world.

Local governments in areas that have not reported any infection yet need to apply strict health protocols to reduce the risk of transmission, he said.

Regions that have reported infections must ensure that patients testing positive for COVID-19 are placed under quarantine, he added.

According to the government’s spokesperson for COVID-19 response, Achmad Yurianto, the number of positive coronavirus cases in Indonesia increased by 60 to reach 369 by Friday afternoon. The death toll increased by seven to 32, he added.
