Bangkok (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the plenary session of the 34th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday.
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who acted as ASEAN chairman, led the plenary session which brought together all 10 leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states.
During the plenary session, President Jokowi was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Director General of ASEAN Cooperation at the Foreign Ministry Jose Tavares.
Following the plenary session, the Indonesian leader was slated to attend a gala dinner with heads of state and governments of other ASEAN member states.
ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi was also expected to attend the gala dinner.
President Jokowi was scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte following the gala dinner.
Earlier, President Jokowi also held bilateral talks with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. During the talks, Jokowi was accompanied by several ministers from the Working Cabinet.
ASEAN comprises Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
