Former North Sumatra governor facing more years in jail
Medan, N Sumatra, (Antara Lampung) - Former North Sumatra Governor Gatot Pujo Nugroho, already convicted and now serving a three-year jail term for graft, is facing more years in jail for alleged corruption.
He is to stand another trial on charge of embezzlement of grant and social aid fund totaling Rp2.8 trillion in 2013.
"The plan is the trial is take place this week," spokesman of the anti corruption court of Medan Erintuah Damanik said here on Monday.
The Medan prosecution office already handed over the dossiers on Gatot case to the court on Friday," Erintuah said.
"The team of judges has also been formed for the court investigating the corruption case of the former governor," he added.
The team members include Janiko Girsang as the presiding judge, and two other members Berlian Napitupulu and Meri Purba.
Gatot is already in Medan brought by a team from the attorney general office from his Sukamiskin prison, Bandung in West Java, to be ready for the trial.
"Now he occupied a cell at a Medan prison to be ready for his second trial," Erintuah said.
A senior official of the North Sumatra provincial administration Edi Sofyan was already sentenced to 5 years' imprisonment for the same case by the Medan corruption court.
In the earlier case , Gatot was found guilty of bribing judges of Medan administrative court.
